singapore

Day trip to singapore!!!

11:35 PM

so i went to singapore for a solid 12 hours recently and it was one hell of a fun day!

i arrived in jb from malacca at midnight because i missed my 8pm bus so i gotta hop on the next bus at 9pm. As i arrived in larkin sentral, took an uber to my hotel in jalan Masai Jaya. Got some rest and woke up at 7 to get ready for my adventure in singapore!

(( A friend of my cousin's whos working in jb offered to guide us around in singapore as hes been there twice. ))

That morning, we went to get a heavy breakfast ( nasi berlauk ) to get some energy for singapore. Then, went straight to JB sentral. In JB sentral, we went to buy some mineral water and some snacks for singapore as you know sgd(singapore dollar) is VERY expensive ( or in other words, myr is very cheap)  so we planned to NOT buy ANY food in singapore and depend solely on our snacks that we bought in JB sentral.

we decided to convert rm200 to sgd and got back 64 dollar singapore. Went pass the immigration in JB sentral and took a bus to sentosa island (rm7). You can buy the tickets from the bus driver IN the bus.

unfortunately, at woodland's immigration, we......... kinda missed the bus. Typically, the bus will drop you off at woodland's immigration post to get ur passport stamped and to fill some forms. Then, you NEED to hop on the SAME bus by remembering the drivers look or the bus's name. From the stamping counter, u have to go pass a security check (like those at the airports) then follow everyone downstairs to where ALL the bus will pick their passengers up.

Since we missed the bus, we took another bus to Kranji MRT ( rm3 or sgd1 ). Make sure you download singapore's MRT maps from google.

We went to Dhobi Ghaut station from Kranji Station then changed to purple lane to go to Harbour Front to go to Sentosa Island. Harbour front station is actually connected to Vivo City mall. Go to Level 3 of Vivo City to get on to Sentosa Express ( sgd2 ) its a train to sentosa island with 3 stops. Waterfront (uss), Imbiah (sentosa merlion) and Beach ( siloso beach and palawan beach)

Then we went to Raffles Place(where the famous singapore landmark Merlion is at) from Harbour front changed to Green lane at Outram Park.

So here's where the adventures REALLY begins. Its a 10-15 minutes walk from Raffles Place station to Merlion statues. Along the way, you can see Marina Bay Sands. From Merlion statue, we walked to Clarke Quay Riverside. There, we perform our Asr & Maghrib prayers. My friend cant do Jamak & Qasar as Jb-Sg is not that far. He performed his zohor prayer at Sentosa's prayer room.

Theres a small mosque undeground right across McDonald's Clarke Quay. Maulana Mohamed Ali mosque. We took a quick rest, ate our snacks refill our mineral water at the mosque.

We continued our LONG WALKS to Gardens By The Bay. It doesnt feel THAT far as Singapore neon lights will make you forget about the distance. You'll walk pass singapore's riverside football court, some buildings and go through Marina Bay Sands itself.

We only went to Super Tree Grove as its FREE ENTRANCE unlike other attractions in Gardens by The Bay. After tons of pictures and selfies, we walked to Bayfront Mrt Station to go back to Kranji station.

As soon as you get off Kranji Mrt, you have to cross the roads and wait for the bus to Jb sentral ( sgd 2 ) Tell the bus drivers youre going to go to Jb sentral instead of Larkin sentral. You will need to queue again for passport stamping and hop on the same bus to Jb sentral. Please note that you can take Any bus as long as its the same company as the bus that you bought the tickets from.

AND best part is...... i only spent 14 sgd in singapore!!!!! so when i converted my sgd back to myr cash, i got around rm150+ back. the current exchange rate at that moment was rm3.10.

PASUM????!!!

11:00 PM

this post is specifically dedicated to fresh spm leavers/graduates out there. since i studied/graduated in/from PASUM (14/15) so i might as well list out some facts about Pasum as a reference to yáll who got accepted into. First thing first,

 C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S !
okay moving on,

1. PASUM stands for Pusat Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya // Centre for Foundation in Science of University Malaya.

2. You can apply for pasum through UM's official website ( during my time pasum is still in the UPUs )

3. Before you get accepted into one you have to go through an interview where PASUM's lecturer itself will be interviewing you. protip: Just read a newspaper and make sure you know the latest news // current issues (mine was about MH370)

4. Pasum is located inside of the one & only UNIVERSITY MALAYA

5. There are only 3 courses in Pasum a) Sains Hayat (biology, physics, chemistry, maths)
                                                            b) Sains Fizikal ( computer science, physics, chemistr, maths)
                                                            c) Alam bina (architecture // arts)
6. I am not sure if pasum still offers the Alam Bina a.k.a Built Environment course as my batch was the last one to have this course.

7. O of the biggest challenge of studying in pasum is that IT IS LOCATED IN THE HEART OF KL. lemme tell you 7 minutes drive from Mid Valley, 15 minutes WALK (yes walk, i walked) to the nearest LRT/train station, 10-15 minutes drive to kl sentral / Bangsar. It is also near to Damansara and CFS uia whish is located in front of JAYA ONE mall.

8. you can also take the bus to the lrt station (Station Universiti) which will only cost you rm1. I walked with some friends bc idek why adventurous? lolz

9. On the first sem, i stayed at the 12th college also known as KK12 // Kolej Kediaman Dr Nazrin Shah which is the COMFIEST kolej kediaman of all kolej kediaman. 2 people per room. singe beds each. multiple floors i guess up to 9? i cant remember sorry. but dont worry they have 2 elevators per block so you dont have to climb the stairs. The type of college you get may varies as they cant accomodate all pasum students in KK12.

10. Then later on the second sem you will stay at the 11th college. Its a 2-3 minutes walk from KK12. This time around you will be staying with ALL of PASUM students. You can pick your own roomates just make sure you register for the college together. 4 people per room. 2 bunk beds. not the best college kediaman.

11. Pasum has only 2 semester so you have to work really hard for both semesters to get the best cgpa. Once you slacked on one of your sem theres nothing you can do about it. Be prepared to not get the best universiti in Malaysia for your degree (ex: USM, UTM, UM, UPM, UKM)

12. On the night of the last day of your paper, there will be an annual dinner (somewhat like a graduation dinner (?)) mine was held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre. Theme: Throwback. the lecturers will be attending this dinner too so dress nicely and behave.

13. && the best part of foundation is that youll get an allowance rm1200 per semester ( can i hear a woot? ) for sabahan you'll get an extra rm1000 for your flight tickets and sarawakian will get rm800. For the less unfortunate, dont worry, the government will pay for your tuition fees.

Last but not least NEVER trust your pasum friends who claimed that he/she didnt study bc no matter if he/she did or not, he/she will definitely get atleast a 3.5 or a 4.0. THIS IS A COMMON SITUATION GUYS> Pasum is for the geniuses. dont get pressured. genius or no genius if you study enough and pray enough you'll get through everything with ease. Insha Allah

All the best!
